I have been fortunate enough to be granted three volunteer opportunities with Nawiri Sisters Foundation– two of which were food donation drives over the COVID19 pandemic while the other was a mentorship and sanitary pad donation drive at one of the Foundation’s partner institutions.
All experiences have been nothing short of transformational for both the volunteers and the beneficiaries.
In a somewhat overly socially aggressive and financially cannibalistic world, the volunteer experiences have worked to restore, with great vigour, my faith in humanity. Through her benevolence, the Foundation provides a platform for all members of society to give back and make a difference in the lives of young girls and boys who are in urgent need of the basics, enabling them to live happy, healthy and dignified lives.
On every drive, one never fails to bond with at least one boy or girl who more often than not is always eager and willing to open up about their struggles and earnestly express their gratitude for your presence and generosity.

Every experience so far has been humbling and fulfilling; as I have been told and have come to learn that my presence alone in every drive has worked to make a difference in at least one of the children’s lives.
In addition, appreciating the basic skills in program management, mentoring and empathy gained in every volunteer experience establishes the Foundation’s donation drives as a life giving, a personal character building and an essential life skill enriching experience. The need to make a difference in our world is everlasting in nature as is the need to always do and be better human beings. The Foundation has made me and those whose lives it helps better. I therefore endeavour to always volunteer and support the cause.

Considering that no act of kindness no matter how small is ever wasted and giving your time, energy or resources is never about making a donation but about making a difference, I invite you to sign up for the next volunteer drive, to support the cause and join the family in making a difference.
I enthusiastically look forward to the next drive and to meeting you as we both make a difference together.
